Create your first project
Start from one sentence or a TXT / DOCX draft; the project is created only after you confirm the proposal.
Creating is a conversation, not a form
The lobby’s “Write” tab is one input box and a greeting. Say what you want to write, and the agent keeps a “Project proposal” updated as you talk: an editable conclusion of the conversation and the creative contract the opening will be written against. Its fields are fixed—story core, genre, format, target audience, tone, starting point, constraints, plus an import plan when a file is attached.
The proposal updates with every answer, so you never have to finish the chat: “Confirm proposal and create project” works at any point. Only from that moment does anything exist on disk—the conversation, attachments and proposal before it are never persisted.
Start from one sentence
One sentence is enough to begin—“a person who stores other people’s memories finds their own childhood in the warehouse.” The more concrete the seed (who, what they want, what blocks them, what this stretch should give the audience), the fewer rounds the proposal takes.
No clear idea? “Inspire me” first looks for three directions and then offers a set of idea seeds: click one to start from it, or “Change set” for another. Change too fast and the seeds take a short break—the page shows how long.
Importing a draft: say what the file is for
“+ Add TXT / DOCX” under the composer attaches a file, and the pre-check reports its character count. Then you must choose one of two roles—the system will not guess:
- “Use as the manuscript”: the text is written in as it stands, no additions, no polish, no model call; it lands in source order through an import cursor, and “Continue importing” picks up the rest if interrupted.
- “Use as creative reference”: directions are extracted from the material and the conversation continues, so the product is new writing rather than your old file.
Confirming without choosing gets stopped with a prompt to settle the file’s role first. Import only places your words into the project—it never promises to build library cards for you; whether a name becomes a character or prop card depends on the character lines and bracketed references you write.
What happens after you confirm
The project is created safely, then the opening is delivered in visible stages: structuring the script, preparing the opening, writing the opening. Stop for a moment and chapter summaries, the story overview and entity dossiers fill themselves in afterwards.
- You stop it: “Stop and take over” keeps whatever was safely written and hands you the pen; on the next launch a dangling “writing” state settles to “incomplete” rather than pretending to be finished.
- A technical failure marks the result “incomplete” and allows one “Complete opening” pass that only appends from the current end—it never rewrites what is already there.
- A manuscript import calls no model: the text lands in order and can be resumed.
- The conversation is not lost: it stays in the project as the “Project start” session, holding the final proposal and the source of the draft, so you can keep talking to the same agent.
The Global edition uses Creem and the CN desktop website uses Alipay. Confirm the product and price after sign-in. Subscriptions last 30 days and renew manually, without automatic charges.
First three things in the new project
- Set the baselineSettings → Project settings → creative baseline: project language, positioning, genre, target audience and content scale, core themes, worldview rules. The agent reads these as constraints.
- Pick a styleChoose a built-in template or answer the nine-dimension questions; save the result as a personal template for the next work.
- Start writingGo to Script and write the first scene; the companion grows the structure with you. Missing chapters, scenes or scene settings are created from its right-click menu—do not let the editor guess headings.
On desktop, one project is one folder on disk—draft, images, sessions, history and design files all live inside it; carry it to another machine with “Export project”.
Limits and troubleshooting
- “No usable proposal came back”, or a proposal the app calls invalid: add one more concrete requirement and ask again; if it repeats, rephrase and start a new round.
- “The imported file is no longer available”: the file moved or changed—attach it again.
- A project is missing from the shelf: check that its local save succeeded. Blank projects and imports do not depend on cloud access, and an unlinked project opens for local editing. Active subscription or recorded legacy access lets you enable sync for the selected project.
- Shelf placement is presentation: cells, tier names and positions belong to this device and change nothing about the project.
